A kid who loved to scribble.

A child who loved to sketch.

A lady who loves to fuse Business and design. 
 

Ruchi Verma has had a flair for art, design and creativity from a very young age.

Circa 2011, she had a brainwave to start Rayana at merely an age of 23 while designing a friend’s wedding jewellery, who wanted anything but conventional that received a lot of appreciation. Ruchi has a degree in Lifestyle and Accessory design from the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) in Bangalore, India. She brings in extensive experience working with some of the giants in the Indian jewellery space, at Tanishq and Mehrasons - the understanding for the nuances of design and the immersion in the world of jewellery only grew. At Raas, a boutique jeweller she partnered with and led  her designs while exhibiting them across her home country, India wherein realising her intrigue for understanding the customer's needs while interacting with them one on one. Sunjewels, a leading manufacturer of fine jewellery, wherein she managed a customer portfolio of over 12 International Luxury and designer Brands, the detailed orientation and technical knack brushed a step ahead. She was quick to understand her love to upcycle jewellery, a need not to reinvent the stagnant pieces in people's closet, but also keeping in mind the sustainable aspects for the industry.

Her technical prowess in diamonds is backed by a course in ‘Diamond Grading’ accredited by Gemological Institute of America (GIA). Further, she also has experience working with one of the leading laboratory grown diamond merchants in Antwerp (Belgium), which is one of the major diamond trading ports of the world.

 

Her entrepreneurial spirit was brushed and is very reminiscent in her journey while being chosen for ‘10,000 Women’,  a CSR Programme by Goldman Sachs aimed for Women Entrepreneur’s, (in collaboration with  Indian School Of Business ) where she underwent a formal training brushing her Leadership and Management skills. Being, the youngest in her batch pampered by the other connoisseurs in their field, there was so much to learn on the management side than she ever thought! 

 

Few years later, the management learnings had to go forward, a keen desire to build a startup in luxury she went on to study, Master’s in ‘International Luxury Management’ between a dual degree in France / Italy gaining merely more than academia. An experience and a shift of perspective to view fine jewellery for young customers, more commonly the 'Millennials' the most sought after group for today's marketeers, for her mainly for the reason that she resonates with them the most!
